Music Monday – Series 04
Large Selection for series 04. Going to be a busy week with quite of bit of work trickling in before the lock date on one of my projects. Capitol Studios was a blast this weekend, and I was able to get a ton of great footage of the scoring sessions. Even got a chance to see the legendary Al Schmidt who was working on the new Rod Stewart album in Studio C. Game Fans you’re in for a treat.. because the musicians this weekend absolutely killed it. I cant wait to hear the final mixes.
So series 04: Tons of great stuff to listen to and hopefully help get you through your work weeks. Lots of grit.. space..texture and analog goodness for you. Enjoy!!
Clark – Herzog
Originally released in 2006 on Warp. I’ve always loved the texture, tone, and analog grittiness of this record.
Tokyo Black Star – Sepiaphone
Makes me want to wear neon, grow a mullet, and hit up the penny arcade on roller skates. Lovely arpeggios, catchy lead lines, and a beat to make Klaus Badelt proud.
John Daly – Exp3
Two Sequencers are better than one. Lovely driving analog sequences weaving in and out of eachother.
Ben Benjamin – Squirmy Sign Language
Guitar grooves that build such a vibe that they will help you conquer your world this week.
Saltillo – Remember Me
Love the build.. the string breakdown.. the drama… the motivation…and the sheer awesomeness of this tune.
Pendal Coven – Optimal
I’ve always been a huge fan of the Basic Channel vibes. Classic deep chord echo lines… incredibly atmospheric…This is what astronauts listen to in their space headphones eating space ice cream while working on space stations.
Lindstrom and Prins Thomas – Rett Pa
Lindstrom and Prins Thomas have lit up the sky over the past year with their incredibly warm and sensual tunes that are a kickback to the disco scene. Plenty of analog soul in this tune.
Jacaszek – Zal
Beautiful atmosphere laced with glitchy microedits, seductive solo voice, and classical roots.
Kyte – Fake Handshakes Earnest Smiles
Lovely shoegaze vibes. Cross between Ulrich Schnauss and Syrofoam.
Empire of the Sun – Walking on a Dream
PNAU was quite the hit on series 02. Here is one of my favorite tunes from Nick Littlemore’s other project. If you get a chance check out the video.. its filled with awesomeness.
