Music Monday – Series 06
Memory Tapes – Swimming Field
I was first introduced to Memory Tapes about a month ago via Scott Hansen’s blog ISO50.com. Even though it has already been posted before.. I had to. These tunes are just phenomenal. They remind me a lot of autumn in Chicago. Where the colors are changing.. leaves are filling the streets..and the cold is just around the corner.
Memory Tapes – Run Out (Bonus)
Last cut on the album but it was a definite stand out. Love the synth runs and guitar groove that kicks in about a minute in. Memory Tapes also love to use steel drums in their tunes, which add this really warm summer’s fading away type vibe to me. Really beautiful!! I could see this being used for an old home video documenting a trip to the beach with friends and ending the night with arms around a loved one underneath a blanket in front of the campfire telling stories, laughing, and having a good time.
Sixtoo – Jackals and Vipers in Envy of Man Part 7
Picked up the Sixtoo album a couple weeks ago and really digging it. Reminds me of a RZA cinema instrumental dying to be used in the next Kill Bill. Distorted beats… sinister orchestration. Sick cut with an interesting title.
Late Night Cinema – Listen Child
Jon Daly – In the Stars
Second time I’ve feature a track by the incredible Jon Daly. In the Stars is an audio adventure ride to the outskirts of Jupiter and back. Stars glistening, oscillators humming, arpeggios bouncing. Before you know its time to get off.
